Job Summary/Basic Function:
SUMMARY
Lake Superior State University (LSSU) invites applications fo r the Campus Visit & Guest Experience Coordinator, a vital team member in creating mission-aligned, high-impact visit experiences that inspire future Lakers. As the primary point of contact for campus tours, group visits, and individual guest experiences, this role plays a crucial part in shaping first impressions and fostering lasting relationships with prospective students and their families.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Admissions, Outreach, & Yield, the Coordinator leads the daily execution of LSSU’s campus visit program, supervises student ambassadors and camp counselors, and collaborates across campus to deliver inclusive and personalized experiences that reflect our student-centered values. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about increasing access to and engagement in higher education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Campus Visit Coordination
- Manage day-to-day operations of the campus visit program, including scheduling, logistics, hospitality, and communications.
- Design and implement individualized and group visit experiences, collaborating with faculty, staff, athletics, dining, housing, and student services.
- Serve as the primary contact for prospective families seeking to visit LSSU; provide concierge-level service and responsiveness.
- Coordinate with the Assistant Director to align visit experiences with broader recruitment and yield strategy.
Ambassador & Camp Leadership
- Recruit, train, and supervise a diverse team of student ambassadors who serve as tour guides and visit hosts.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of summer camps coordinated by the Office of Admissions.
- Hire, schedule, and supervise camp counselors and seasonal staff supporting pre-college and summer programming.
- Ensure all camp activities meet university safety and inclusion standards while creating an engaging experience for youth participants.
Event Support & Guest Engagement
- Support execution of large-scale recruitment events such as Laker Fridays, Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, and special group tours.
- Contribute to event design, student staffing, and post-event follow-up and analysis.
- Assist with the planning and oversight of summer and pre-college camps hosted on campus.
CRM & Communications
- Collaborate with the CRM Coordinator to utilize the CRM for visit and camp registration, track attendance, and execute post-visit communications.
- Maintain accurate visit and event data, and provide reports on visitor trends and engagement outcomes.
- Support development of visit-related and camp-related communications, signage, surveys, and feedback mechanisms.
Partnership & Outreach
- Collaborate with Admissions Counselors, Marketing, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs to ensure a seamless and coordinated visit experience.
- Serve as an informed representative of LSSU at external events such as college fairs, school counselor workshops, and community programs.
- Contribute to yield efforts by fostering strong relationships with visiting families and campus guests.
Other Duties
- Maintain inventory of visit and camp supplies, branded materials, and promotional items.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and university events.
- Support other admissions and enrollment-related initiatives as assigned.
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, education, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills, especially with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CRM or student information systems (e.g., Banner) preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more years of experience working with first-generation students, underrepresented youth, or tribal education systems.
- Familiarity with federal and state grant programs such as GEAR UP, TRIO, or KCP initiatives.
- Experience facilitating workshops or youth development programming.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- Ability to maintain a flexible and demanding schedule with occasional travel.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times (e.g., event materials).
- Requires mental focus, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Must be able to adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced and student-centered environment.
