SUMMARY

Lake Superior State University seeks a dynamic, goal-driven Regional Recruiter – Grand Rapids to join our Admissions & Marketing team. Based remotely in the Grand Rapids area, this position is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and enrolling prospective undergraduate students primarily from the western half of Michigan's southern lower peninsula. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director, Recruiting & Pre-College Programs, the Regional Recruiter will strengthen Lake Superior State University’s presence in the region through relationship-building with high school counselors, community colleges, community-based organizations, and prospective students and families. This position will be located remotely in the Grand Rapids, MI region, with extensive travel within the assigned territory. In addition, the Regional Recruiter must travel to LSSU’s main campus in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, quarterly for meetings, training, and campus events. Evening and weekend work will be expected during peak recruitment seasons.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary LSSU admissions representative for the assigned regional territory.

  • Recruit prospective freshmen, transfer, and non-traditional students through high school visits, community college visits, college fairs, and community events.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with high school counselors, community college advisors, alumni, and community organizations to promote LSSU.

  • Conduct individual advising sessions, group presentations, and information sessions to guide students and families through the admissions and financial aid process.

  • Actively manage territory through a strategic communication plan utilizing multiple platforms, including email, phone, text, social media, and CRM (CRM Recruit).

  • Regularly track and report outreach activities, prospect data, and enrollment trends to inform strategies and assess effectiveness.

  • Meet established recruitment goals, communication benchmarks, and enrollment targets for the assigned region.

  • Collaborate with the broader Admissions team to execute university-wide recruitment campaigns and special initiatives.

  • Organize and host local recruitment events and receptions for prospective and admitted students.

  • Travel to LSSU’s main campus at least once per month for professional development, team meetings, and major admissions events.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of professional experience in admissions, recruitment, sales, marketing, student services, or a related field.

  • Alumnus of Lake Superior State University.

  • in regional recruitment, admissions counseling, or higher education marketing.

  • Familiarity with Western Michigan's secondary schools and community colleges.

  • Bilingual proficiency is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated success working with diverse populations, including first-generation college students.

  • Knowledge of Lake Superior State University programs, mission, and student experience.

Admissions Student Ambassadors are a vital part of the recruitment of prospective students and are employed directly by the Admissions Office at Lake Superior State University. Student Ambassadors are a select group of students dedicated to the positive promotion of the Institution and are an essential component of LSSU’s public relation and outreach. -Provide prospective students and their families with exceptional customer service -Build relationships and lend guidance to prospective students and their parents in person and over the telephone. -Provide information concerning Lake Superior State University and share positive LSSU related experiences with the students and families -Relay the prospective student’s needs and requests to the appropriate Admissions staff -Aim to encourage enrollment of prospective students -Participate in required training meetings and remain informed of current LSSU Admissions and campus life procedures, activities, andevents -Provide assistance in various events and programs planned by the Admissions Office such as GLSW, Orientation, and Open Houses -Give tours of campus to prospective students and their families -Perform other admissions related tasks as needed such as data input, mailings, answering multi-line phone, ETC Some weekend work opportunities.

Lake Superior State University Athletics is seeking dependable and enthusiastic students to join the Game Day Operations Team. These essential roles support the execution of home athletic events for Laker Hockey, Volleyball, and Men’s and Women’s Basketball, ensuring a professional and entertaining experience for student-athletes, fans, and visitors.
