Title: Simulation Operations Specialist

Published Salary Range: $50,000 to $65,000

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The School of Nursing invites applications for a Simulation Operations Specialist to lead and advance the LSSU Superior Simulation Center. Reporting to the School of Nursing Director, the Simulation Operations Specialist provides operational leadership and oversight for simulation-based learning across academic programs, and community partners.

The Specialist is responsible for ensuring effective day-to-day simulation operations that advance excellence in clinical education and adhere to nationally recognized best practices as defined by INACSL, SSH and others.

This position requires a leader who can drive operational excellence and translate strategy into effective and efficient operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

● Proficiency with current healthcare clinical procedures, primarily in nursing or EMED, and related technology.
● Ability to supervise student workers and simulation technicians.
● Supports financial planning efforts and ensures effective management of approved budget allocations.
● Ability to demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules.
● Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
● Knowledge of technologies used for simulation including: electrical/technical AV, virtual reality, manikins, and other technologies used for simulation activities.
● Knowledge of current simulation standards for best practice as defined by nationally recognized organizations such as INACSL, SSiH and others.
● Proficient with standard office computer software.
● Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and produce reports.
● Ability to work flexible hours, including potential for some weekend days.
● Ability to travel.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree in nursing or EMS education or associate degree in healthcare or a related field (nursing, allied health, education, engineering, bioengineering, information technology, etc.) with more than 2 years experience in healthcare simulation or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Two or more years of experience in healthcare simulation.
● Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) and/or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification.
● Experience in a clinical or educational setting, preferably nursing or medical education.
● Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and simulation software.

Physical Demands:

Ability to move and set up laboratory and simulation equipment; lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds; stand or move for extended periods; and use standard office and instructional technology equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Hours: 

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and variable
