Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Webmaster is responsible for the overall management, design, development, and maintenance of the university’s website and associated web services. This role ensures LSSU’s online presence is secure, functional, visually engaging, and accessible to all users. The Webmaster collaborates with IT staff and stakeholders to uphold web standards, implement best practices, and align digital content with the university's strategic goals and branding guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development, or equivalent job related experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience managing and developing websites, preferably in higher education.
  • Proficiency with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress).
  • Strong understanding of web security principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of SEO, web analytics, and accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to multitask, work under pressure, adapt to shifting needs, and learn new skills.
  • Flexibility: to move from deliberateness to urgency; manage multiple projects simultaneously; and stay calm under pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to create, edit, correct, and redesign a high volume of clean product on a wide variety of topics through a wide variety of methods.
  • Regularly keeps up with best practices in web design in general and higher education web design in particular.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field.
  • Experience with server-side scripting languages and front-end frameworks (React, Vue). Web programming skills.
  • Experience with graphic design tools.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and directory services.
  • Experience managing website migrations or large-scale redesign projects.
  • Experience managing web servers (Apache, IIS) and databases (MySQL).
  • General photography experience and photo editing.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit and focus for extended periods. Fine motor skills to operate a computer and related technology. Ability to troubleshoot, analyze problems, and implement solutions. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
