Job Summary/Basic Function:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advise and mentor student clubs and organizations by empowering a large portfolio of student groups by providing guidance on leadership development, event planning, budgeting, and membership growth, helping student leaders create vibrant and sustainable organizations.
• Organize, plan, and execute co-curricular programs, activities, and campus-wide events that energize campus life, foster community spirit, and encourage broad student participation.
• Design and facilitate leadership workshops, retreats, and recognition programs that cultivate students’ leadership skills, encourage civic engagement and promote personal and professional growth.
• Recruit, train, and supervise student employees, providing mentorship, feedback, and professional development opportunities to build their skills and ensure effective support for Student Life programs.
• Implement programs and services that celebrate diverse backgrounds and perspectives, promote equity, and ensure all students feel welcomed, represented, and supported in a culturally inclusive campus environment.
• Work in partnership with faculty, academic departments, and community organizations to develop interdisciplinary initiatives and service opportunities that enhance student learning and strengthen connections across the university and local community.
• Regularly assess student needs and program outcomes using surveys, evaluations, and other feedback tools; utilize data and insights to continuously improve Student Life initiatives and demonstrate their impact on student engagement, retention, and success.
• Remain informed about emerging trends in student affairs and campus engagement (e.g., through professional associations like NASPA/ACPA), and integrate innovative ideas and industry best practices into student life programming.
• Participate in the on-call rotation, providing crisis intervention and support for students during evening and weekend hours.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student engagement, with the ability to apply theoretical frameworks to programs and advising that support student learning and development.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive campus environment and promoting a sense of belonging for all students.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively engage diverse groups of students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Proficiency with relevant technology and social media tools, including student engagement platforms, event management software, and productivity suites (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
• Experience advising student clubs/organizations in a higher education setting, including supporting member recruitment, budget oversight, and leadership development within student groups.
• Experience planning and executing campus events and programs in a college/university environment (from small workshops to large campus traditions), with the ability to manage event logistics and budgets effectively.

• Social Justice and Inclusion: Identify systems of socialization that influence one’s multiple identities and sociopolitical perspectives and how they impact one’s lived experiences.
• Student Learning and Development: Identify the strengths and limitations in applying existing theories and models to varying student demographic groups.
• Technology: Remain current on student and educator adoption patterns of new technologies and familiarize oneself with the purpose and functionality of those technologies.
• Advising and Supporting: Establish rapport with students, groups, colleagues, and others that acknowledges differences in lived experiences.

M-F, 8am - 5pm / Nights & weekends as available
