SUMMARY

Lake Superior State University seeks a dynamic, goal-driven Regional Recruiter to join our Admissions & Marketing team. This position is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and enrolling prospective undergraduate students in their assigned territory. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Recruiting & Pre-College Programs, the Regional Recruiter will strengthen LSSU’s presence across the region through relationship-building with high school counselors, community colleges, community-based organizations, and prospective students and families.

This position will be located remotely in one of the following areas: Sault Ste. Marie, MI; Escanaba, MI; Iron Mountain, MI; Houghton, MI; Grand Rapids, MI; Toledo, OH; or Fort Wayne, IN. Extensive travel within the assigned territory is required. In addition, the Regional Recruiter must travel to LSSU’s main campus in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan at least once per quarter for professional development, team meetings, and campus-wide recruitment events. Evening and weekend work is expected during peak recruitment seasons.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary LSSU admissions representative for the assigned regional territory.
  • Recruit prospective freshmen, transfer, and non-traditional students through high school visits, community college visits, college fairs, and community events.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with high school counselors, community college advisors, alumni, and community organizations to promote LSSU.
  • Conduct individual advising sessions, group presentations, and information sessions to guide students and families through the admissions and financial aid process.
  • Actively manage territory through a strategic communication plan utilizing multiple platforms, including email, phone, text, social media, and CRM (Slate).
  • Regularly track and report outreach activities, prospect data, and enrollment trends to inform strategies and assess effectiveness.
  • Meet established recruitment goals, communication benchmarks, and enrollment targets for the assigned region.
  • Collaborate with the broader Admissions team to execute university-wide recruitment campaigns and special initiatives.
  • Organize and host local recruitment events and receptions for prospective and admitted students.
  • Travel to LSSU’s main campus at least once per quarter.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICAITONS & COMPETENCIES

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a defined recruitment territory.
  • Comfort working remotely while maintaining strong collaboration with on-campus team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of college admissions and the importance of access and equity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of professional experience in admissions, recruitment, sales, marketing, student services, or a related field.
  • Experience in regional recruitment, admissions counseling, or higher education marketing.
  • Familiarity with secondary schools and community colleges in Michigan, Ohio, and/or Indiana.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or other) is highly desirable.
  • Graduate of Lake Superior State University.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, including regular driving and occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to travel to LSSU’s main campus in Sault Ste. Marie at least once per quarter.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends during peak recruitment seasons.
  • Ability to lift, transport, and set up recruitment materials and displays weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work for extended periods at a computer and perform tasks requiring repetitive motion.
  • Ability to work remotely with access to a dedicated home office space and reliable internet connection.
