Title: Human Resources Generalist

Published Salary Range: 45,000-55,000

Job Summary/Basic Function:

Under general supervision, this position is part of an interdisciplinary team of generalists supporting the employee life cycle, campus safety, and risk management. As assigned, administers plans and programs related to customer service, talent acquisition, labor relations, leave and absence management, departmental budget, employee communications, departmental metrics and reporting, policy management, education and training, completes special projects, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Tier 1:

1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a directly related business field (or equivalent experience in addition to a bachelor’s degree in another discipline).

2. A minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in human resources or a directly related field to demonstrate sufficient knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position. (Two or more years of satisfactory work experience at this Tier is required for consideration to advance to the next higher Tier.)

Tier 2:

1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a directly related business field (or equivalent experience in addition to a bachelor’s degree in another discipline), in addition to a related advanced degree and/or a professional human resource-related certification.

2. A minimum of four (4) or more years of experience in human resources or a directly related field to demonstrate sufficient knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position. (Two or more years of satisfactory work experience at this Tier is required for consideration to advance to the next higher Tier.)

Tier 3:

1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a directly related business field (or equivalent experience in addition to a bachelor’s degree in another discipline), in addition to a professional human resource-related certification.

2. A minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in human resources or a directly related field to demonstrate sufficient knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Prior experience as a Human Resources Generalist.

2. Experience in higher education.

3. Additional experience beyond the minimum requirements..

Physical Demands:

1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.

2. The person in this position needs to move about both inside the office and at other locations where interviews and meetings are conducted.

3. Frequently operates a computer for extended periods of time.

4. Frequently communicates with others over the phone and in person; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

5. Ability to speak clearly and communicate proficiently in English.

6. Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences; ability to understand and work with numbers and detail work

Work Hours: 

Monday - Friday 8:00 - 5:00 After hours on a need basis
