Published Salary: $16.76 per hour

Job Summary/Basic Function:

To provide the necessary clerical skills and organizational assistance in the implementation of policies specific to the function of a major department or specialized activity of a department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform weekly and as needs check runs, including reconciliations, ACHS’s, EFTs, Voucher checks, student refunds, scanning and attaching of all accounts payable documents.
  2. Upload bank batches to the University’s bank.
  3. Create and upload positive pay files to the bank.
  4. Capture and verify the accounts receivable and finance nightly system jobs.
  5. Perform backup Cashier duties:
    • Process receipts for departments, student accounts, and student loan payments.
    • Assist with student account questions; be familiar with FERPA Law, and verify authorization to receive student account information.
    • Cash checks for employees and students
    • Assist with creating receipt uploads
  6. Organize, scan, attach and file grant related documents.
  7. Reconcile various finance accounts.
  8. Assist with document collection for annual audit.
  9. Perform data entry tasks as needed.
  10. Backup the processing of purchasing card monthly statements.
  11. Direct students, parents and employees to the appropriate department for assistance with any questions they may have outside of the Cashier Counter.
  12. Be familiar with and adhere to area security procedures.
  13. Open and distribute incoming mail for Business Operations, and maintain the department’s email box and voicemail.
  14. Perform as needed accounting and clerical functions to support accounting personnel.
  15. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School graduate
Two years of experience in office work
Typing proficiency-minimum of 40 words per minute
Knowledge of office procedures
Ability to listen and follow verbal directions
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of electronic office equipment and business machines
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations
Accuracy and attention to detail
Honesty and integrity
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree in Accounting or related field.
Knowledge of Banner Software, Touchnet Software, or equivalent student information system.
Basic accounting knowledge through formal training or experience.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Ability to hear a normal conversational voice and telephone conversation, with or without a hearing device; ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances; ability to read and to understand written and spoken language; ability to see with or without vision aid and to concentrate long hours on a computer screen. Use of fine motor skills and dexterity to type and input computer information and use other business machines. Use of gross motor skills for filing, handling of paperwork, and office equipment. Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences; ability to understand and work with numbers and detail work. Physical fitness adequate to maintain long hours and work under pressure.
