Assistant Athletic Director - Men's Ice Hockey General Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Roster Management, Talent Acquisition and Retention:
1. Partner with the Head Coach on roster construction and resource allocation strategy.
2. Identify talent needs and advise on balancing transfer acquisitions with prospects.
3. Analyze trends in the transfer market for roster management and assist in making financial offer decisions for student-athletes.
4. Negotiate roster budget conversations with hockey student-athletes.
5. Develop strategies for successful talent acquisition and retention.
6. Create financial strategies that align with the program's goals while effectively tracking and managing the roster budget strategically.
7. Collaborate with department partners to create contract templates and policies.
8. Evaluate player value through comprehensive contemporary assessments beyond traditional statistics.
9. In collaboration with the recruiting coordinator monitor all prospects including evaluation of players entering the transfer portal for team fit and provide coaches with information on potential transfer targets.
10. Track available players and create profiles on prospects.
11. Develop and maintain relationships with player representatives, coaches, and scouts.
12. Assist in coordinating the recruitment process, including campus visits and communication with prospects.
13. Assist with the creation of team and player highlight videos for recruitment and scouting purposes.
14. Understand road recruiting schedules and potential footprint expansion.
15. Manage player personnel staff and student learners.
16. Develop and manage the roster budget, including scholarships and NIL opportunities.
17. Serve as a liaison to athletic department staff and university administration.
18. Evaluate software and systems for roster construction management.
19. Partner with external relations for revenue-generating opportunities.
20. Collaborate on NIL opportunities for student-athletes.

Hockey Operations:
1. Oversee all aspects of video operations, including game and practice film capture, organization, and analysis.
2. Utilize video analysis software (e.g., Hudl, XOS, Instat, SportsLogiq) to provide detailed breakdowns of games, practices, and individual player performances.
3. Create and present video reports for coaches, players, and staff to aid in game preparation and player development.
4. Manage real-time video review during games for in-game coaching adjustments.
5. Analyze opponent tendencies through video scouting, compiling key insights into reports for the coaching staff.
6. Work with coaches to develop pre-scout reports and video presentations for upcoming games.
7. Maintain a library of opponent game footage and historical trends.
8. Assist with live game tracking to provide real-time analytical insights during competition.
9. Plans and coordinates all aspects of team travel for away contests; develops travel itineraries; coordinates transportation, hotel arrangements, meals, practice sites/times, to meet NCAA rules and regulations.
10. Travels with team and manages logistics, coordinates problem resolutions.
11. Assists in management of program budget, ensuring expenses are within the rules and regulations of the university and the NCAA.
12. Prepares, analyzes and interprets the team’s financial condition by monitoring financial reports, recording significant changes and making recommendations to the Athletic Director and Head Coach.
13. Prepares and reviews fiscal related documents such as requisitions, quotations, purchase orders, travel and other fiscal documents for compliance with applicable laws, and with university, Foundation, and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
14. Monitors student-athlete livelihood including on-campus housing issues, meal plans, financial aid applications and status, limitations of practice hours, class attendance, study hall hours.
15. In coordination with Sports Dietitian, Sports Medicine and Sports Performance coordinate and successfully execute team meals, training table and fueling station(s).
16. Monitors and logs compliance forms for weekly team countable activities, as well as coaches’ telephone records and permitted contacts and evaluations of prospective student athletes.
17. Serves as liaison to athletic administration, academics, media relations, facilities management, and equipment services.
18. Acts on behalf of coaches in immediately addressing issues and concerns with the student-athletes, administrators and other staff members.
19. Secures facilities on a day-to-day basis for all home and away practice times.
20. Collaborates with visiting teams to coordinate scheduling of practice times, and assists visiting teams with game day needs.
21. Records game statistics as required and presents statistics and analysis as requested.
22. Organizes all aspects of prospect official recruiting visits and on-campus contacts, including facility scheduling, activity planning, host coordination, hotel accommodations, meals, travel and flight arrangements, transportation, and campus meetings.
23. Coordinates unofficial visits including complimentary game tickets.
24. Hires, supervises, and evaluates team managers; selects and monitors program volunteers.
25. Coordinates the end-of-year banquet/events including, reserving the facility; designing and ordering awards; selecting menu; requesting highlight videos; and, inviting special guests, alums, corporate partners, and department personnel.
