Athletic Trainer - Men's Ice Hockey

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Coordinate pre-participation, annual and exit physical exams
  2. In collaboration with Sports Performance professionals, develop and implement injury prevention strategies
  3. In collaboration with campus health services and team physicians, develop and implement student athlete health and performance enhancement education
  4. Evaluate and treat injuries, illness at practices and competitions
  5. Design and implement rehabilitation programs
  6. Coordinate pre-practice/game preparation of teams
  7. Revise and implement emergency action plans including collaboration with local EMS/Fire/Paramedics
  8. Maintain and communicate injury/availability reports
  9. Prepare insurance claims in collaboration with the University secondary insurance provider and third-party administrator
  10. Perform duties in cooperation with the University's medical director and team physician(s)
  11. Responsible for all medical equipment and protective equipment, including fabrication of custom protective equipment
  12. Includes travel with Men’s NCAA D1 Ice Hockey and other teams as coordinated with the Athletics Director
  13. Responsible for developing and maintaining departmental policies including student-athlete well-being, including achieving and maintaining compliance with the healthcare requirements in the NCAA Student Athlete Core Guarantees
  14. Provide state of the art prevention and recovery strategies
  15. In collaboration with the Director of Hockey Sports Performance, maintain athlete management system (AMS) as it relates to sports science data, load management and other sophisticated analytics.
  16. In collaboration with team physicians and licensed mental health providers, assist in the management of student-athlete mental health
  17. Develop and manage an annual sports medicine budget
  18. Communicate effectively with student-athletes and coaches in the evenings and weekends, as needed
  19. Prepare and maintain appropriate athletic injury care records and reports as required following national standard of care

  21. Other duties as assigned
