Job Summary/Basic Function:

Under administrative authority from and accountability to the Registrar, responsible for the coordination of technical operations and International Student Compliance for the Registrar's Office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Degree Works  – Using Scribe, responsible for the creation and maintenance of degree compliances for all University academic programs.  Implement Degree Works functions not currently being utilized.   Using Transit, run jobs to report information regarding degree compliances, update processes, etc.  Create and update user documentation, provide demos, and conduct training sessions for faculty, staff and students on a continuous basis.  Follow Listsevs and Banner websites to remain up to date with changes/problems affecting Degree Works. 

Degree Audit Verifications - Complete Degree Audit verifications for students planning to graduate.   Correspond to students regarding missing requirements and to provide information. 

Process student exceptions in My Degree Plan – Post substitution and waiver forms and document all audit adjustments to student records. 

Work with the Registrar to test upgrades to the Student Module of Banner and for Degree Works.  

Generate reports as requested for Registrar staff.  Ensure all reports for the Registrar's Office are accurate.

Maintain the Registrar’s Office webpages to ensure accurate and up to date.

Act as Designated School Official (DSO) for SEVIS.   Responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations by keeping abreast of current immigration regulatory requirements and utilizing the SEVIS system as it pertains to F-1 Students.

Update and distribute yearly forms to other DSO's on campus and provide statistics as needed.  Provide guidance and training for all DSO's on campus.  Monitor all international students to ensure all paperwork, etc. is in compliance.  Reconcile, verify, monitor and update data regarding our international students in the national SEVIS database.   

Authorize international students through Department of Homeland Security procedures to receive extensions of stay, employment and practical training, reduced course loads and transfer to and from LSSU.  Advises students who are out of status or in jeopardy of status violations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident of the US (required for SEVIS).
• Bachelors degree in Business Administration, or related field required or equivalent experience working for an institution of higher education.
• Proven ability to work effectively with faculty and staff at all levels of the University as well as with students.
• Strong organizational skills to ensure all Registrar's Office responsibilities are carried out on an appropriate and sometimes shortened timetable..
• Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent computer skills required.
• Advanced level of ability with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point) required.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, planning, problem-solving and interpretive skills to analyze situations, define problems, identify concerns, develop and propose solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Familiarity with the software system Banner preferred.
• Experience in an institution of higher education preferred.
• Knowledge of various third party software used with Banner preferred.

Physical Demands:

Adequate physical fitness to be able to set and concentrate for long periods of time; use of fine motor skills to operate computer; problem solving ability; ability to understand and work with numbers; ability to see, hear, and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks.

Work Hours: 

Monday - Friday, occasionally nights and weekends
