Lake Superior State University's Center for Freshwater Research and Education is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to lead a collaborative research project on oil detection and monitoring in freshwater ecosystems. The postdoctoral associate will work with US and Canadian researchers and oversee wave tank experiments, contribute to research proposals, lead collaborative manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, and mentor undergraduate students. Activities will be coordinated with the project team, which is composed of personnel from CFRE and collaborators at Natural Resources Canada, the University of Windsor, Algoma University, Bay Mills Indian Community, and the US Coast Guard Great Lakes Oil Spill Center of Expertise.
We are seeking applicants that have a Ph.D. or ABD in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, computer science, aquatic ecology), have experience working with marine technology including sensors and/or autonomous vehicles, are familiar with collecting, managing, and analyzing complex datasets, and have a demonstrated ability to publish peer-reviewed literature.
