Join Our Campus Security Team as a Public Safety Officer

Lake Superior State University is seeking a dedicated Public Safety Officer to help maintain a safe and welcoming campus environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our university community while building valuable experience in public safety.

What You'll Do

  • Patrol campus grounds on foot and by vehicle to ensure safety and security
  • Respond to emergency calls and incidents with professionalism and care
  • Conduct safety escorts for community members across campus
  • Monitor security systems and access control points
  • Write clear, accurate incident reports and maintain detailed records
  • Assist with parking enforcement and traffic control during events
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when needed

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and think clearly during stressful situations
  • Physical fitness to perform patrol duties and respond to emergencies
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred but not required
