Job Summary/Basic Function:
Lake Superior State University seeks a detail-oriented and student-focused professional to serve as the Transfer & New International Student Coordinator. This position plays a critical role in supporting two key enrollment pipelines, domestic transfer students and new international students, through a holistic recruitment and onboarding experience.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Admissions, Outreach & Yield, the Coordinator will provide counseling and support throughout the admissions process, lead the development and maintenance of articulation agreements and transfer pathways, and serve as a liaison to international students navigating enrollment and immigration processes. This position will help drive institutional enrollment goals by cultivating relationships with community colleges, partner universities, and international recruitment organizations, while ensuring all prospective students are welcomed, informed, and prepared to succeed at Lake State.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and prioritize marketing and communication requests submitted by university departments, ensuring alignment with enrollment and institutional goals.
Serve as the primary contact and counselor for prospective transfer and international students throughout the recruitment and enrollment process.
Develop, coordinate, and maintain articulation and transfer agreements with partner institutions, working closely with Academic Affairs to ensure alignment with LSSU academic programs.
Counsel prospective students on admissions requirements, transfer credit evaluation, scholarships, academic offerings, and student life at LSSU.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to coordinate transcript evaluations, transfer equivalency tools, and international credential assessments.
Actively recruit prospective students through in-person and virtual events, including college fairs, international agent events, campus visits, and transfer-specific events.
Partner with LSSU academic departments to align pathways and support onboarding for unique program needs.
Support the successful onboarding of new transfer and international students through pre-arrival communications, orientation programming, housing assistance, and advising handoffs.
Collaborate with the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) to ensure SEVIS compliance, documentation support, and appropriate visa advising.
Track and analyze student engagement, application trends, and yield data for assigned territories and populations.
Maintain up-to-date student records and communication logs using Ellucian CRM Recruit and related university systems.
Represent LSSU professionally at external engagements, including MACRAO and NAFSA events, international student recruitment fairs, and global education partnerships.
Meet and exceed recruitment performance metrics, including inquiry generation, application conversion, and enrolled student goals.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in higher education admissions, recruitment, international education, or related field.
Demonstrated ability to build rapport with students and guide them through complex processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with cultural sensitivity and an inclusive mindset.
Ability to travel regionally and internationally, with flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Higher Education, International Education, Counseling, or related discipline.
Experience working with transfer articulation agreements or international student admissions.
Familiarity with SEVIS and DSO procedures (prior DSO designation preferred).
Working knowledge of Ellucian CRM Recruit and international credential evaluation processes.
Experience building partnerships with community colleges, global recruitment partners, or international agencies.
Proficiency in a second language.
Physical and Mental Demands
Office-based with travel required to community colleges, recruitment events, and occasional international destinations.
Must be able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds of materials.
Regular use of computer, phone, and video conferencing platforms.
Occasional evening and weekend hours required for events and student support.
Work Hours:
M-F 8-5pm / Some nights & weekends as needed
