Title: Adjunct Instructor - Fire Science

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Lake Superior State University is seeking to establish a list of qualified adjunct instructors to teach a broad range of fire science courses in the School of Criminal Justice, Fire Science and EMS.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Fire Engineering, Hazardous Materials, Public Safety or closely related field. The degree must be from a regionally accredited institution. Fire Instructor 1 or the ability to achieve Fire Instructor 1 with 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience teaching and/or developing training in the field of Fire Science.
10 or more years’ experience in the field.
Prior leadership positions in the field as a fulltime firefighter.
Physical Demands:
Typical demands of teaching at the university exist, with the ability to stand for up to 4 hours in a single class session. The ability to manage the physical demands of fire science lab environments and ability to wear and function in full turnout gear and SCBA.
